Showing stars such as Sophia Loren, Bridget Bardot and Audrey Hepburn wearing Italian designs, it has been put together by Scottish photographer Rankin and Italian fashion writer Anna Battista.
The 50 pictures have been taken from collections all over the world and brought together to show Italian style and grace on film.
Italian fashion and glamour celebrated in new exhibition
Classic Italian films such as La Dolce Vita and Bellissima have been included along with more modern movies like Sex and The City.
Rankin said: “The influence that Italian film has had on me is significant. Cinema Paradiso is without question, my favourite film of all time and has had a profound impact on my life both personally and professionally.
“The themes and inherent style within the story never fail to move me just as much as they did the first time, and as a piece of work, it has inspired me to move into film as well as photography.
“It is inspiring to be part of this exhibition and solidify my connection to a genre which is so important to me”.
Anna Battista said: “In Italy, fashion and cinema have always had a huge influence on each other creatively: they feed each other.
“When the two are brought together with the artistry and skill that this exhibition showcases, they have the power to arouse real depth of emotion on the screen.
“They say that behind every great film there is a great director. In this exhibition, visitors will discover that those directors’ visions are often realised through great costumes and the inspiring fashion moments they create”.
The exhibition runs at Dundas Street Gallery until Saturday and then moved on to London, Brighton, Cardiff, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow and Leeds.

I would have loved to have seen this exhibition! Italian fashion is so classic and timeless, even all the old movie stars look absolutely sensational to this day. It’s great to celebrate fashion that has influenced the world today.
